Cathy Minerva - Fine Artist
After a successful career writing pre-school curriculum, I have retired from the 'real world' to pursue my lifelong dream of creating and selling art.
I create in many mediums but my true passions are encaustics (molten wax) and water color pencil portraits. I also work in clay, acrylics, water colors, fabric and re-purposing items that would normally end up in our landfills.
As a child, I won numerous art contests and thought I would go immediately into the art world when I grew up. Reality of the literal term starving artist set in quickly so I found a career and worked until I retired almost 3 yrs. ago. I have a fascination with texture, faces and eyes in particular.
Painting with an iron ( yes, an iron) about the size of a travel iron is challenging and rewarding. Hubby dear finds me just about standing on my head over my studio table watching for the perfect drop of wax to roll down to complete an eye.
I recently purchased an Artisan Handmade Marketplace on the internet giving Artisan the opportunity to get their work online without breaking the bank. Come browse my site or open your FREE shop today! www.earthgaia.com
Encaustics allow for a tremendous amount of depth and texture. This is truly touchy feely art at it's finest. Thank you for viewing my collection of work today. May your travels in art be thought provoking and give you joy.
